Invitation

When you are ready,

come. I will be waiting

by the river’s

purling hurry,

slim or sleek

with spring.

We will walk there

and your story–

river in ice,

river hurling —

will quicken.

Our two hearts

nodding, knotted

in knowing.

When you are ready,

I will be waiting.

Green as daylight

rich in wonder.

I will be rain

to your thunder.

Such a beautiful poem and invitation. Thank you. I wanted to tell you that when Josie was about 3 years old she said, “Mom, you are thunder and I am rain.” Blew me away. I resonate with this 🙂
